The Second Round Signing of the Memorandum of Promoting Meteorological Modernization Cooperation.
On January 11th 2016, China Meteorological Administration and the Guangdong Provincial Government in Guangzhou signed the “memorandum of comprehensively promoting meteorological modernization cooperation”
On January 11th 2016, China Meteorological Administration and the Guangdong Provincial Government in Guangzhou signed the “memorandum of comprehensively promoting meteorological modernization cooperation” (hereinafter referred to as the "memorandum"), which follows the “memorandum of speeding up the meteorological modernization cooperation and construction of pilot provinces.” Signed in Beijing in 2012, the two sides then signed a new round of cooperation agreement of building meteorological modernization. Mr. Hu Chunhua, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, attended the signing ceremony. The Administrator of China Meteorological Administration, Dr. Zheng Guoguang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Governor, Zhu Xiaodan, signed on behalf of the two sides.
According to the "memorandum", in the "the thirteenth five year plan" period, the two sides will implement 3 key projects about the modernization of Guangdong Meteorological Service that is, to improve the marine meteorological monitoring and early warning capabilities in Guangdong Province, to reduce the threat of marine meteorological disasters to people and marine economy, and to meet the construction of the maritime silk road with precise weather forecast guidance. The two sides will jointly promote the Guangdong regional numerical weather prediction, to upgrade the Key Laboratory as a State Key Laboratory, to improve the Guangdong Meteorological forecast core ability, to provide weather forecasting and warning services for relevant governmental departments and private sectors in Guangdong Province.
